The path

Your journey, one informed step at a time.

Start with your current stage. Each guide connects the rules, the documents and the tools that can help you prepare. Eligibility depends on your situation; the journey is a planning guide, not a guaranteed route.

Four things to keep in view

As you move through the stages, keep these parts of your plan up to date:

  • Your weakest language ability. Some language thresholds must be met in every ability. CRS also scores abilities individually and applies transferability conditions.
  • Whether the work counts. Hours worked while you were a full-time student do not count toward CEC — no matter how skilled the job was.
  • The dates. A language test is valid 2 years, an ECA 5 years, an Express Entry profile 12 months, an invitation 60 days. Check the exact deadlines in your official account.
  • Your institution and program. Some colleges and program types cannot produce a PGWP at all. That is decided the day you enrol, not the day you graduate.
