What counts as proof

Express Entry: settlement funds must be available to you, not borrowed from another person or tied up in property. Bank letters must include the information IRCC requests, including six-month average balances.
Express Entry: joint funds with your spouse can count. Study permits: a sponsor's letter must be supported by evidence that the promised funds are available.
Express Entry: the amount is checked on the day you apply and the day the visa is issued. Keep the balance.
Study permit: a GIC or an educational loan from a bank can be acceptable evidence. SDS closed November 8, 2024; GICs remain evidence under the regular process. Include tuition, living costs and transportation to and from Canada, plus a funding plan for later years.
